SPECIALITY MONOMERS

2-ACRYLAMIDO 2-METHYLAPROPANE SULPHONIC ACID (ATBS), CAS 15214-89-8

ATBS is a highly versatile molecule used to make polymers, which has applications in a wide range of industries due to its excellent hydrolytic and thermal stability. This unique molecule imparts properties, such as divalent cationic stability, lubricity and enhanced performance at high temperatures to its polymers. We offer three grades of 2-acrylamido 2-methylapropane sulphonic acid: 2401, 2404 and 2406.

Industry Applications Relevance
Polymers to enhance oil recovery

ATBS copolymers are used in oil field environments as scale inhibitors, friction reducers and water-control polymers, and in polymer flooding applications.

Construction chemicals

In drilling operations where conditions of high salinity, high temperature and high pressure are present, ATBS copolymers are used successfully to inhibit fluid loss.

In cementing operations within deep, high temperature wells, ATBS copolymers are used as non-retarding fluid loss control agents.

Detergents and cleaners

Used to improve characteristics of hydrophilicity, dispersibility, and lubricity and also enhance the cleaning efficiency of detergents and Cleaners.

Raw material for water treatment

Used in Cooling Tower and Boilers to inhibit Calcium, Magnesium and Silica scale formation. Also used to precipitate solids in industrial and mining effluents

Acrylic fibre

Gives dye receptability for acrylic fibre

Textile auxiliaries

Used as Textile Sizing Agents, Thickeners, Dispersants and Non-Woven Emulsion Binders.

Hydrogels and super absorbents

Being super absorbents, they are used in diapers, lotions and other personal care products, due to high water absorbing capacity, electrical conductivity, slipperiness and lubricity. Also used as water retention agents

Adhesives

Improve strength in pressure sensitive formulations and also make wood glue to improve adhesive strength, thermal and mechanical properties with superior rheology

Emulsions for paint and paper coating

Polymers containing ATBS improve scrub resistance, dispersant performance and reduce grit formation

SODIUM SALT OF 2-ACRYLAMIDO-2-METHYLPROPANE SULPHONIC ACID (NAATBS), CAS 5165-97-9

NaATBS is a 50% liquid solution that is convenient to handle, thereby making it easy to obtain the desired flexibility in formulations to create high performance polymers. Depending on the desired polymerisation molecular weight and performance characteristics, sodium salt is also offered in three grades: 2403, 2405 and 2407.

N-TERTIARY BUTYL ACRYLAMIDE (TBA), CAS 75-64-9

TBA is a monomer used for the production of polymers, and an intermediate in organic chemical synthesis.

Industry Applications Relevance
Thickeners

They are used for thickening aqueous solutions, mixtures or systems that have high performance requirements under high pH conditions.

Personal care

It provides excellent curl retention even at high humidity, and can be formulated over a wide range of volatile organic component (VOC) content.

Paper industry

TBA based retention aid improves the flocculating tendency of pulp fibres, contaminants and additives to inhibit loss during drainage through proper machine wires or screens.

Metal working fluid(Mist suppressant)

It reduces mist of machine fluids at the source by stabilising them against break-up during extreme conditions.

N-TERTIARY OCTYL ACRYLAMIDE (TOA), CAS 848522

TOA provides stability, and is used as a co-monomer to improve strength and performance of polymers.

Industry Applications Relevance
Adhesives

It provides high strength and long open-time.

Antiscalants

They stabilise iron in solution and also are effective against scales in presence of soluble iron.

Enhanced oil recovery(EOR)

It provides a balance between aqueous solubility, brine tolerance, viscosification efficiency, hydrolytic and mechanical stability, aiding enhanced oil recovery.

Personal care

It is used in hair spray, mousses and styling products. It gives outstanding curl, retention, hand hold and humidity resistance.
